What Does the Adam Levine Workout Routine Look Like?
Singer/Songwriter Adam Levine is no stranger to hard work. Whether working on his next performance on stage or working out in the gym, the lead singer of Maroon 5 gives it his all. How does he do it? And what does his weekly workout look like? You can find out what works for Adam in this article and how you can adopt his success secrets for yourself.
Who is Adam Levine?
Born March 18, 1979, in Los Angeles, Levine says growing up his family was “very musical.” He attributes his love for music to his mother, as she favored The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, and Simon & Garfunkel. Not only has he crooned the tunes in various groups and acted on television, but he has also coached other singers on NBC’s The Voice. Levine has garnered three Grammy Awards and received multiple accolades.
In addition to his singing career, Levine has taken to TV and the big screen as an actor. His debut was in the television show ‘American Horror Story’ where he played a recurring character, Leo Morrison, in the show’s second season. Films he appeared in include ‘Begin Again,’ ‘Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping,’ and ‘The Clapper.’
Like other celebrities, he launched his own fragrance line in 2013. That same year he launched a clothing collection for menswear. As the owner of 222 Records and 222 Productions, he has enjoyed success producing TV shows ‘Sugar’ and ‘Songland.’
With his involvement in the music and acting industries, it’s imperative that Adam Levine stays physically fit to look better and keep up with the rigorous schedule and performances on his plate.
With his busy professional and personal lifestyle (including two kids and one on the way!), Levine knows he has to make the most of it if he is going to fit in the Adam Levine workout.

What Does the Adam Levine Workout Routine Look Like?
Harley Pasternak, a celebrity trainer, designed a detailed workout schedule for the Grammy Award winner that focuses on maintaining stamina and energy and promoting fat loss. According to Jacked Gorilla, his program also includes joint-friendly lifts that do not stress his body.
Did I mention that Adam Levine is extremely busy? Somehow he still finds time to log over 14,000 steps every day. He’s worked with Austin Pohlen, another trainer, who says the singer “never sits still” during the day. Don’t believe it? Just ask his fitness tracker!
Adam’s sweet spot is a strength training full-body circuit that can be completed in 25 minutes or less. He’s the type of person that gets bored quickly, so his trainers know that keeping him moving through a workout with heavy repetitions combats boredom and moves toward success.
When Adam is not participating in his Adam Levine workout, he’s chasing his kids around their LA home. And when he’s not doing that, his routine looks something like this:
Monday begins the week with 30-45 minutes of yoga, then a strength training circuit.
Adam completes 6 sets of 30 repetitions for each exercise, including reverse lunges, incline dumbbell rows, and superman (or would that be ‘supermen’?) exercises. He makes sure to rest for one minute between circuits. Adam’s yoga routine consists of breathing exercises, poses, and meditation that reduce stress and promote relaxation.
Tuesday, you’ll find Adam on the treadmill for one and a half hours.
Then it’s off to Pilates for an hour. Follow Adam’s lead and check out this YouTube video, “25 Min Full Body Toning Pilates Workout.”
Wednesday is more than just ‘hump’ day.
Adam hops on the treadmill again for one and a half hours to burn fat and calories. Walking or running on a treadmill is better for your joints because they offer a better shock-absorbent surface than sidewalks or roads. After the treadmill, Adam completes a half hour of yoga.
Thursday brings with it another strength training circuit
But first, another one and a half hours on the treadmill. Then it’s 6 sets of 30 repetitions for reverse lunges, incline dumbbell rows and superman exercises. Just as before, Adam rests one minute between circuits. Check out this quick tutorial (above) for superman exercises.
Friday finds Adam focusing on yoga and strength.
It starts with an hour on the treadmill, then his usual strength training circuit. 6 sets of 30 reps for reverse lunges, incline dumbbell rows, and superman exercises are par for the course, with a minute of rest in between circuits. His Friday routine ends with a half hour of yoga.
Saturday and Sunday are days of rest for Adam.
He may or may not do some yoga moves or light foam rolling. VeryWell Fit says that time is a great way to recover from a hard workout. It allows the body to recover naturally and at its own pace. With the intensity of the Adam Levine workout during the rest of the week, his body needs this weekend time to recover and gear up to do it all over again.
Adam Levine’s Other Secrets to Staying in Shape
Adam believes in eating clean and healthy. He knows the importance of staying hydrated. Even when not working out, keeping your body hydrated matters. He knows that staying hydrated ensures the heart pumps blood more easily to the muscles, making them more efficient. Dr. John Batson of Lowcountry Spine & Sport in Hilton Head, SC, says, “If you’re well hydrated, your heart doesn’t have to work as hard.” Dehydration is serious, and Adam knows better than to let his body become depleted.
While fueling his body with healthy foods, he describes himself as “half vegan.” Once in a while, he enjoys a good steak. He also avoids dairy as he navigates through a healthy day with meals like these.
A Look at Adam Levine’s Diet
Breakfast begins with a shot of caffeine in the form of coffee. A “cup of Joe” can boost energy levels. Caffeine increases neurotransmitters in the brain that regulates energy, including dopamine. Next, combining Greek yogurt, egg whites, and spinach makes a delightful and light meal to start the day. Greek yogurt is a good source of protein which is necessary for muscle development.
A typical lunch is salmon with sweet potatoes and other veggies. That’s good news for Adam because the main protein in sweet potatoes may have cancer-fighting properties.
Dinner is often whole wheat pasta with a generous helping of steamed veggies. Whole wheat pasta is similar to regular pasta in fat, calories, and protein. The difference is that it has almost twice the fiber, which can curb overeating as it makes you feel full. It also steadies your blood sugar level, slows fat absorption, and helps reduce cholesterol in your body.
Supplementing his healthy meals are superfood shakes, most likely made with vegan protein powders.
Adam knows how vital a good night’s rest is for his body and mind. He makes sure to get enough rest by supplementing with melatonin. Sleep deprivation is clearly a problem that can cause a host of health problems, according to Health.com. “Many things that we take for granted are affected by sleep,” says Dr. Raymonde Jean of St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York City.
“If you sleep better, you can certainly live better. It’s pretty clear.” Some of the benefits of consistently catching those Z’s are decreasing inflammation levels and improving blood pressure. When it comes to working out, sleep will allow you to rest, which can prevent illness, enhance mental function, and improve mood and fatigue.

Time to Get and Stay in Shape
As you can see, Adam Levine is intentional in making time for his workouts which are intense and successful in keeping him lean and strong at 5’11” and 170 pounds. As a businessman, husband, and dad, according to Muscle & Fitness, Adam Levine is a “dude” in “seemingly perpetual motion. Celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak says, “Adam is an anomaly. He’s attack, attack, attack, and no matter what I throw at him, he doesn’t complain.” If you’re eager to get in your best shape, it may be time to adopt the Adam Levine workout.
